Apple currently has both the Apple TV and HomePod as its main products for the home, and as the company continues to make several improvements in software related to those products, it’s clear that Apple has been exploring several new concepts for smart home technology. Several reports have even indicated that Apple is exploring an iPad-like device where the display would float in mid-air and the built-in arm could allow the display to move and swivel freely, similar to the design of the iMac G4. Now, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg says that Apple is now moving forward in developing that futuristic concept.

If this concept comes to fruition, this would be the most ideal home accessory for anywhere around the house, especially the kitchen, as it would be well suited for FaceTime videoconferencing to keep in touch with your loved ones as well as future Siri enhancements and Apple Intelligence for everyday actions and controls for other home devices such as security systems.

With the recent change in the leadership of Kevin Lynch, who now leads the AI development and research team, Gurman says that Apple has picked up development towards this ambitious project. However, we may not see the final product go live until around 2026 at the earlier, and Apple is aiming to launch this product for around $1,000 as technology gets cheaper. We’re still a few years away, but plans could always change based on several factors. This looks like a promising future in Apple’s home device category.
