There have been rumors for a while that Apple will bring back some variant of the gold finish to the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models. The current iPhone 15 Pro models are the first flagship iPhones to not have some gold finish since the iPhone X as those models also marked the first time using a titanium frame in place of the stainless steel frame that was used on the iPhone X.

An image from Sonny Dickson shows what all four colors for the 16 Pro could look like, and some sources suggested that the golden color may be called “Bronze Titanium.” However, Majin Bu declared that that finish would be called “Desert Titanium”. Today, 9to5Mac posted a mockup image based on an previously-accurate source that gives us an early look at what this new finish may look like, which is expected to replace the Blue Titanium in the iPhone 15 Pro’s color options. Additionally, we may see a new polished look on the iPhone 16 Pro models’ titanium frame that will look as shiny as the stainless steel frame on earlier models, yet it’ll be more scratch-resistant.

Apple will introduce the iPhone 16 lineup at the “It’s Glowtime” event on September 9 at 10 a.m. PDT. You can watch it live on Apple.com.
