Appleosophy Streaming Picks: September 2024

Avatar for David Becker

The fall season is right around the corner here in America, so here is what you should be streaming during the final days of summer and into the fall.

TV:

  • “Emily in Paris” (Season 4, Part 2): The beginning of the fourth season last month was a hit for Netflix and the second part of it can be seen exclusively there on Thursday, September 12.

  • “Lopez vs. Lopez”: The second season of this series is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, September 18 on Netflix. It can currently be streamed on Peacock too.

  • “The Big Bang Theory”: With no new Sheldon Cooper-related show on TV now, you might be wanting to watch TBBT or even his younger years in “Young Sheldon. Both shows can be streamed on MAX.

  • “Frazier” (Season 2): This rebooted TV series has its second season being released starting on Thursday, September 19 on Paramount+.

  • “The Office”: Again, with the old-fashioned fall TV schedule and format in mind, here is another opportunity to stream on of America’s most beloved TV shows of the 21st century. It can be streamed on Peacock.

Movies:

  • “Harry Potter”: “Back to Hogwarts” season is here. It technically begins today and is the unofficial kickoff to the season of rewatching “Harry Potter” all over again. On top of that, the movies are great to stream during the fall season too. All eight films can be streamed on MAX.

  • “Fantastic Beasts”: You cannot have “Fantastic Beasts” without “Harry Potter,” but when it comes to the overall story, you can’t have “Harry Potter” without “Fantastic Beasts.” The “Fantastic Beasts” films are a prequel to the “Harry Potter” films and are arguably pretty underrated. All three “Fantastic Beasts” films can be streamed on MAX and Peacock right now.

  • “Like Sunday, Like Rain”: This is a good indie film and the best part is it can be streamed for completely free. It could also be considered a good film to watch since schools across the country started their fall semesters either last month or will this month. This film can be streamed on ad-supported streaming services like Tubi, Amazon Freevee, PLEX, and Crackle.

  • “Jobs”: Since there will be another Apple Event this month, it could be a good time to stream this film starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs. It can be streamed for free with ads through PLEX.

  • “Rudy”: With the college football season recently starting, movie buffs might want to rewatch this film about a guy named Rudy who goes on to play for the Notre Dame football team. It can be streamed for free on The Roku Channel.

Sports:

  • Iowa vs. Iowa State (College Football): It’s going to be one of the biggest games of the month, as well as a time for each college to get bragging rights for a whole year between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones. The game will be played at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 7, on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+.

  • Ravens vs. Chiefs (NFL): The reigning Super Bowl champions square off against the Baltimore Ravens to kickoff the new NFL regular season. This game will be played at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday, September 5, on NBC and streaming live on Peacock.

  • Jaguars vs. Bills (NFL): This could be a big time game between two major AFC teams in the NFL. This game will be played at 7:30 p.m. ET on September 23, on ESPN.

  • Georgia vs. Alabama (College Football): What a great game this could be in such an early part of the season for both teams that could have impacts on the SEC conference, eventual SEC Championship, and College Football Playoff. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 28, on ABC and streaming live on ESPN+.

  • Bass Pro Shops Night Race (NASCAR Cup Series): During this time throughout the month of September, the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs will have begun, with this race being an important one. You can watch this race live at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 21, on USA Network.
