College football season started this past weekend and it got off to a great start.

This upcoming weekend, there are plans set in place for multiple networks to have 4K-supported games broadcast live.

Here are the following games Apple TV 4K users can stream in 4K on September 7:

  • Texas vs. Michigan ”“ 12 p.m. ET on FOX
  • Baylor vs. Utah ”“ 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX
  • N.C. State vs. Tennessee ”” 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN

When it comes to actually streaming those games live, fans will have to be subscribed to a live TV streaming service such as YouTube TV, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, or Sling TV (Sling Blue or Sling Orange + Blue plans only, FOX only available in select TV markets on Sling TV) which all will have a FOX 4K channel. Those that have YouTube TV will also need to have the 4K Plus add-on for an additional $9.99 a month.

Please note that DirecTV Stream may not be an option due to DirecTV’s ongoing carriage dispute with Disney who owns ESPN and its networks.

Another way to stream the FOX Sports games in 4K, when available, whether it is on FOX or FS1, is through the FOX Sports app. Those that use that route will have to sign in with valid TV provider credentials in order to stream the games live and in 4K from that app.

As for how to stream the one 4K game on ESPN, that is said to be through 4K ESPN channels provided by YouTube TV and Sling TV, according to TVAnswersman.com. The 4K broadcast will not be available on the ESPN app or on ESPN+.

According to said source, when either FOX or ESPN broadcast games in 4K, they are “upscaled” from 1080p.

All of the streaming services and apps mentioned to stream the game in 4K are available on the Apple TV 4K.
