Apple has been collaborating with French design company Hermès to deliver the most luxurious combination of smartwatch technology and craftsmanship. Before this week’s announcement, Apple Watch Hermès offered stainless steel models with various Hermès bands. Apple replaced those with titanium cases in the Hermès collection; however, since Apple didn’t introduce a new generation of the Apple Watch Ultra (we instead got a new Satin Black finish), this allowed Apple to do something new for its rugged smartwatch. So for the very first time, Apple is introducing an all-new addition to the Hermès collection: the Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 2. This will be the best of both worlds for those who want a rugged smartwatch for extreme sports and watch enthusiasts who appreciate the craftsmanship of designer bands.
So what do you get with the Hermès Ultra 2? Not only will you get the same rugged design as the vanilla Ultra 2 in a stunning natural titanium finish, but you’ll also get a bonus Hermès Maritime watch face that compliments the watch by displaying the seconds along the bezel and the time as Cape Cod numerals. In addition, when you press the Action button, you’ll start a Regatta countdown timer to keep track of time.
What makes Hermès Ultra 2 so unique is the sporty En Mar band, which is water-resistant to take on even the most extreme water sports. This band, which is made of textured knit in Bleu Nuit, is meticulously crafted with the finest details you’d expect from any Hermès band, featuring grooves that echo the pattern of ocean waves, a subtle “H” motif, and a matching custom hardware buckle. This band can also be purchased separately for $449, and it’s also compatible with the larger case sizes of any Apple Watch model.
