Apple announced its brand new products to the iPhone lineup at its ‘Glowtime’ event today ”“ iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, taking technology to the next level.

The highlighting feature of the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series is Apple Intelligence, which was announced during WWDC back in June 2024, as a part of iOS 18.

The iPhone 16 series is powered by the A18 and A18 Pro chip, with both the regular and Pro models featuring similar new features and changes. The limelight falls on the new Camera Control Button, which is also interactive, and available on all the four new models. The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, powered by the new A18 Pro chip feature a larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR Display, but they now come with even slimmer bezels for a more futuristic look.

One common improvement across the entire iPhone 16 lineup is the battery life. Here’s a comparison with the iPhone 15, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, and iPhone 12 series:

iPhone 16: Up to 22 hours of video playback, up to 18 hours of streamed video playback, or up to 80 hours of audio playback

We can expect up to 2 more hours of video playback for the regular iPhone 16, and up to an hour more of video playback for the larger iPhone 16 Plus, when compared to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus respectively. The bigger boost comes with the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, with up to 4 more hours of video playback when compared to the previous generation, according to Apple.

When you compare these numbers to a device like the iPhone 12, you can see a significant difference in terms of battery life, meaning you can go longer without needing to charge the phone. It’s possible that your current iPhone’s battery capacity has been significantly degraded, leading to even lower battery life than what you would get with a new version of your phone — so you will be getting a boost in battery life if you choose to upgrade to a newer model.

Moreover, the new iPhone 16 series now supports up to 25W of MagSafe charging when connected to a 30W adapter. Previous models only supported up to 15W for MagSafe charging.

The pricing has been nearly the same in the U.S. for these years considering all of these improvements.
