Since the beginning, Apple offered stainless steel cases as the premium option in the mainstream Series lineup, but starting with the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple replaced those stainless steel models with titanium models. Titanium is an ideal material for a watch because it’s stronger than steel, yet it’s lightweight. So how light are the titanium cases in the Apple Series 10?

For comparison, here’s how much the 41mm and 45mm stainless steel cases weigh for the Apple Watch Series 9:

  • 41mm: 42.3 grams
  • 45mm: 51.5 grams

Here’s how much the 42mm and 46mm titanium cases weigh for the Apple Watch Series 10:

  • 42mm: 34.4 grams
  • 46mm: 41.7 grams

So by comparison, both the titanium cases are close to 20% lighter than the stainless steel cases; specifically, there’s a ~18.7% difference in weight for the smaller cases and a ~19.0% difference in weight for the larger cases.

Overall, the weight reduction will be a great benefit for those who prefer a more premium and more durable material.

Apple Watch Series 10 can be pre-ordered today with availability in stores starting September 20.
