Apple Pay Later replaced with Affirm in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18

Earlier this year, Apple decided to pull the plug on its buy now, pay later service called Apple Pay Later.

Today, with the release of iOS 18, along with iPadOS 18, to the general public, it has been officially announced by Affirm that it is taking over the role as the official buy now, pay later service for users running iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 on their iPhones and iPads.

With the addition of Affirm in this capacity for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 users, it enables said users to make biweekly or monthly payments on purchases made through it. The service is well-known and now it will be seen to more users through Apple Pay and Wallet app integration.

Vishal Kapoor, Affirm’s Senior Vice President of Product, said it is a big day for both Affirm and Apple customers, both old and new.

“We are thrilled to bring the power of Affirm to Apple Pay users in the U.S. and the retailers where they shop,” he said. “This integration combines the ease, convenience and security of Apple Pay alongside the features users love in Affirm ”“ flexibility, transparency and no late or hidden fees.”

Affirm did provide some directions on how to use its services in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18:

“To begin, users with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 or later can select “Other Cards & Pay Later Options” when checking out with Apple Pay on their iPhone or iPad. After choosing Affirm, they will go through a quick eligibility check that will not impact their credit score.”
