The iPhone 16 series will officially launch this Friday, but one of the biggest features that Apple marketed for those phones, Apple Intelligence, won’t be ready until next month. However, Apple recently told news outlets that Apple Intelligence would be coming in seven more languages that weren’t previously announced at last week’s Glowtime event.
These languages include:
- English (India)
- English (Singapore)
- German
- Italian
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Vietnamese
At Apple’s event, the company announced that Apple Intelligence will be available in localized English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. in December. Support for Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish will be added the following year.
Developers have been testing out Apple Intelligence through the latest betas of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, which will offer powerful features to enhance the user experience, all while protecting the users’ privacy, such as proofreading text, priority notifications, reply suggestions, and “Clean Up” for instantly erasing objects in a photo’s background.
Apple Intelligence will require any of the following devices
- iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 16 / Plus / Pro / Pro Max
- iPad Air / Pro with M1 or later
- Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later)
However, if you’re in the European Union, you will be able to try Apple Intelligence on only Macs with Apple Silicon and not on any of the aforementioned iPhone or iPad models due to the Digital Markets Act, which Apple is settling this dispute with the European Commission.
To briefly recap, here’s a timeframe for all the languages that will be supported by Apple Intelligence:
- October 2024 – English (U.S.)
- December 2024 – English (Australia/Canada/New Zealand/U.K./South Africa)
- 2025 – Chinese, French, Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese, English (India/Singapore)
