Appleosophy Streaming Picks: November 2024

Avatar for David Becker

Halloween is over now and Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season is coming…and there’s nothing that can stop it.

TV:

  • “Cobra Kai” (Season 6, Part 2): The end is getting closer and closer in this series and the second part of the sixth season (Part 2/3) is being released on Friday, November 15 on Netflix.

  • “A.P. Bio”: The first four seasons of this show are coming to Netflix on Friday, November 15 too on Netflix. It’s a big deal, as this series used to be a Peacock Original at one point. With that said, if you’re a fan of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” something tells me you might like this show.

  • “Doctor Who”: November is the month that has Doctor Who Day, which is on Saturday, November 23. The series will be turning 61 years old. In order to stream the series…well kids, that’s where things get complicated. To stream Classic Doctor Who (1963-1989), that will be through BritBox and for free with ads on Tubi, along with the “Classic Doctor Who” Channel on Pluto TV and Tubi too. The 1996 “Doctor Who” TV movie with Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor is only available on BBC iPlayer for our British readers out there. “Doctor Who” (2005-2022) can be streamed on MAX which will have Doctors 9-13. To stream the current “Doctor Who” series (2023-Present), that will all be done through Disney+ (Doctors 14 and 15).

  • “Dash & Lily”: For all of you who either read the original books or those who have no idea about this show, it is an excellent show to watch during the holidays and Christmas season. It is exclusively available to stream on Netflix.

  • “The Agency”: This series is a Paramount+ Original and will premiere on the streaming service on Friday, November 29. The series stars Michael Fassbender (who played Steve Jobs in the 2015 “Steve Jobs” film) and also has actors such as Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, and Katherine Waterston.

Movies:

  • “Stuck in Love”: I always end up recommending this movie during this time of the year because of its importance and the fact that the story goes over the course of a year with a family of writers, and the fact that you get not one, not two, but three Thanksgiving dinner scenes in it. Perfect for November and the holiday season, am I right? It can currently be streamed on Prime Video and Peacock, as well as ad-supported streaming services for free such as Tubi, Crackle, Pluto TV, Amazon Freevee, and PLEX.

  • “Twisters”: This was a movie that was just released this past summer in movie theaters across the country. It will be available to stream exclusively on Peacock starting on Friday, November 15.

  • “Friendsgiving”: It’s a film where something that was supposed to be calm and relaxing with close friends turns into something the turkey can’t even digest. The film can be streamed on Starz.

  • “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”: It’s an American classic and can currently be streamed on Paramount+ and for free with ads on Pluto TV.

  • “A Novel Noel”: Ok, we were going to have recommend at least one Hallmark Christmas movie to watch and this is going to be the one. The film is about “a NYC book editor takes on a temporary gig running a Maine bookstore.” Sounds nice and cozy for this time of the year, wouldn’t you say? The film will premiere at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 21, on Hallmark Mystery. The movie will be available the day after to stream on Peacock.

Holiday Specials:

  • “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”: This is always a popular and great one to watch this time of the year. Apple will be having a free weekend to stream in on Apple TV+ later this month, but in the meantime, it is available to currently stream for those who are actively subscribed to Apple TV+ right now.

  • “Garfield’s Thanksgiving”: It’s something that could be fun to watch for the kids at home and can be streamed on Peacock.

  • “Family Guy”: Just like last month, this show is getting another exclusive holiday special that will premiere only on Hulu on Monday, November 25.

  • Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: It will be held on Thanksgiving Day which is Thursday, November 28, and begin the broadcast at 8:30 a.m. ET on NBC and streaming live on Peacock.

Sports:

  • Ohio State vs. Penn State (College Football): It’s going to be a big game for each of these teams and that game will be played at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 2, on FOX.

  • Thanksgiving Weekend Football (College Football & NFL): Since there are going to be not only so many games being played during that time and some pretty good matchups overall, we recommend watching as much as possible. The games we would have our eye on Thanksgiving is the Bears vs. Lions game that will be played at 12 p.m. ET on Thanksgiving Day, on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+. For college football on Friday, November 29, our recommended game would be Nebraska vs. Iowa being played at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and streaming live on Peacock. As for Saturday, November 30, our recommended game would be Michigan vs. Ohio State which will be played at 12 p.m. on FOX. Ending the weekend on a high note, that would be Sunday, December 1, which would be between the 49ers and the Bills at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

  • NASCAR Cup Series Championship: It’s the final race of the year for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season. In the race, you will find out who the winner of said race is, as well as the winner of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. It will be raced at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 10, on NBC.

  • Texas vs, Ohio State (College Basketball): On top of college football season going on, it’s also time for college basketball to get its start on the new regular season. This game could be a good one to start the season off and will be played at 9 p.m. ET on Monday, November 4, on TNT and truTV, and streaming live on MAX.

  • Alabama vs. Purdue (College Basketball): This is another good matchup that will be happening this month too to get the early season started. It will be played at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, November 15, and exclusively on Peacock.
