The latest release of macOS Sequoia (15.2) launched earlier today, bringing a plethora of improvements, bug fixes, and new features related to Apple Intelligence such as Image Playground and ChatGPT support.

It wasn’t long before insiders discovered software files that reference two unreleased Mac models – “Mac16,12” and “Mac16,13”, which correspond to “MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)” and “MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)”. So this confirms that new MacBook Air models are incoming as the identifier “16,x” has been used for the recently released Macs with the M4 series of chips.

We will likely see the new MacBook Air models launch sometime in the spring of 2025 since Apple waited until March of this year to debut the M3 MacBook Air models after the company announced the M3 family of MacBook Pros back in October 2023. Apple is aiming to upgrade all of its Mac lineup to the latest M4 series of chips; however, even though we don’t expect a major design overhaul for the incoming M4 MacBook Airs, we should get several improved features beyond the M4 chip that we saw with the M4 iMac and MacBook Pro such as the Center Stage camera and nano-texture display option. You can read more on what we can expect from the M4 MacBook Air here.
