It has been reported by Cord Cutters News that the Discovery+ streaming service’s ad-free tier is going up in price starting next month.
The source reports that the ad-free version of Discovery+ will be increased to $9.99 a month (previously $8.99 a month) starting on January 14, 2025. It is not currently known whether or not the price of the ad-supported plan will be raised or changed.
For those that are not interested in the new ad-free $9.99 per month Discovery+ plan, they could always switch to the ad-supported plan that is currently $9.99 a month or switch to MAX’s ad-supported plan that would have some Discovery and most MAX content available on it for $9.99 a month. However, it will not have all content from Discovery+ on it.
This comes just a couple days after it was announced that YouTube TV was going to be increasing its monthly prices starting early next year too.
Price increases in streaming services is nothing new over the last couple of years and has actually become quite a common occurrence.
Discovery+ is available to stream on the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac. It can also be subscribed to via in-app purchases in the App Store in both its ad-supported and ad-free tiers.
