The official build of iOS 18.4 went live to the public, and with the recent announcement of WWDC 2025, we’re just a few months away from Apple’s anticipated introduction of its next major release of its mobile operating system, iOS 19. A private account on X has been posting details on iOS device compatibility, so according to that account, they indicated that iOS 19 would drop iPhone models with an A12 chip or later; this includes iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max.
Furthermore, these are the models that we can expect to support iOS 19:
- iPhone 11 / Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 12 / mini / Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 13 / mini / Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 14 / Plus / Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 15 / Plus / Pro / Pro Max
- iPhone 16 / Plus / Pro / Pro Max / 16e
- iPhone SE (2nd / 3rd generation)
Additionally, the source also claimed that iPadOS 19 would drop support for the 7th-generation iPad with the A10 Fusion chip. This could mean that iPadOS 19 will require an iPad model with an A12 Bionic chip or later, which includes:
- iPad mini (5th generation and later, including A17 Pro)
- iPad (8th generation and later, including A16)
- iPad Air (3rd generation and later, including M2 / M3)
- iPad Pro (2018 and later, including M4)
We’ll know the final device compatibility list once Apple officially introduces its operating systems at this year’s WWDC, so stay tuned for that.
