Apple this week has rolled out an update to its Sports app, bringing support for the FA Community Shield and expanding its availability to Mexico. This year’s Community Shield, the traditional English football pre-season opener, will feature Premier League champions Liverpool Football Club against FA Cup holders Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, August 10.
Liverpool clinched their 20th top-flight league title in late April, securing the Premier League title with an unassailable lead. Crystal Palace made history in May by winning the FA Cup for the first time, in a dramatic final against Manchester City.
With this update, the free Apple Sports app is now available in Mexico, enabling Liga MX fans to follow their local teams and track progress in the MLS Leagues Cup. The app is already available in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
Version 3.1 of the Apple Sports app also brings enhanced information within box scores, providing fans with more real-time performance statistics for their favorite players. This continues Apple’s recent enhancements to the Sports app, which notably received a June update featuring a new home screen layout and tennis support.
Launched in February 2024, the Apple Sports app delivers real-time scores, statistics, standings, and upcoming game information across a variety of leagues.
