As a final last-minute rumor before the “Awe-dropping” event kicks off, a photo has been revealed online that depicts the brand “iPhone Air”. As you may have known, Apple is expected to introduce four new iPhones: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. So this iPhone 17 Air will be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date, and it will take the spot of the Plus model.
Now, this leak suggests that it may simply be called “iPhone Air,” so will Apple not carry the number ’17’ for its upcoming Air model? That may be the case because next fall, Apple is expected to unveil its first ever foldable – the “iPhone Fold.”
So if this “iPhone Air” will start off as a first-generation product and gets its own versioning number, rather than being part of the iPhone 17 line, then that could create an inconsistency. I’d love to see a unified system where the iPhone models have a version numbering scheme based on the year, similar to vehicles, and even Apple’s platforms such as iOS and watchOS.
We won’t have to wait too long for the official name and brand for Apple’s ultra-thin smartphone.
