Apple has officially released iPadOS 26, introducing significant advancements in interface design, multitasking capabilities, and integration with Apple Intelligence. This update aims to elevate the iPad’s role as a versatile tool for professional and personal use, while maintaining accessibility for all users.

To install the update, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update. It is recommended to perform a backup prior to installation to safeguard data.

iPadOS 26 features a new “Liquid Glass” design, which enhances the visual appeal interface. Icons for applications now incorporate a translucent effect that interacts with the background, resulting in a more dynamic and modern aesthetic. This design approach emphasizes fluidity and intuition, facilitating a seamless user interaction from the initial screen.

The update includes an overhauled windowing system, allowing users to resize and position applications with greater flexibility. Windows can be arranged in various configurations, including thirds or quarters of the screen, to support efficient multitasking. Additional features include an Exposé overview for managing open windows and a dedicated menu bar for application commands and search functions.

Apple Intelligence is more comprehensively embedded in iPadOS 26, providing automated assistance across applications. Capabilities include live translation in Messages, image generation based on personal photos, and automated summarization of lengthy communications.

The Files app has been updated with resizable columns, collapsible folders, and streamlined options for opening documents in preferred applications. Dock folders provide quick access to essential files, further supporting mobile workflows.
