Apple is now building and shipping American-made artificial-intelligence servers from its new factory in Houston, Texas—well ahead of the original schedule, according to an exclusive report by Fox Business. The facility, part of Apple’s massive U.S. investment initiative, is designed to support the company’s broader AI strategy and bring advanced manufacturing back to American soil.
The 250,000-square-foot facility in Houston was originally slated to open in 2026, but Apple has expedited the timeline to begin production and shipment of these servers today. According to Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan, “We’re thrilled to be shipping American-made advanced servers from our Houston facility… As part of our $600 billion commitment to the United States, these servers will be installed in our data centers and play a key role in powering Apple Intelligence with Private Cloud Compute.”
Why does this matter? These servers will underpin Apple’s AI infrastructure—particularly its platform for on-device and cloud hybrid intelligence—helping power features across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Moreover, manufacturing these critical components in the U.S. signals Apple’s intent to bolster supply-chain resilience and align with domestic manufacturing goals. The move also directly answers calls by Donald Trump for tech companies to bring more production back to the United States.
From a strategy standpoint, accelerating the Houston facility gives Apple an edge. With AI infrastructure under increasing demand, owning more of the hardware stack and producing it domestically could reduce risks tied to global supply disruptions and tariff pressures. Indeed, this shift appears to dovetail with Apple’s earlier announcement to invest more than $500 billion in U.S. manufacturing, R&D, and workforce development.
While the facility is operational now, the full build-out and ramp-up are still underway. Additionally, while manufacturing is moving to the U.S., Apple remains dependent on global supply chains for many components, meaning this is just one piece of a much larger logistics puzzle.
