Rumor: iPhone 18 Pro Max Could Be the Heaviest iPhone Ever

A new report has emerged concerning Apple’s 2026 flagship smartphone lineup. According to a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo by the leaker known as Instant Digital, the forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max may set a new record for its weight,

The leaker claims that the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s total weight will exceed 240 grams. This would make it the heaviest smartphone Apple has ever produced. For context, the iPhone 14 Pro Max previously held this title at 240 grams.

Apple subsequently reduced the weight of the iPhone 15 Pro Max to 221 grams, a change attributed largely to the adoption of a new titanium chassis. The leaker also added that the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s body will be “slightly thicker” than current-generation models.

A larger and heavier chassis could be required to accommodate a next-generation battery with a substantial capacity increase, a more complex and physically larger camera system, or other new technologies that demand more internal volume.

The iPhone 18 series is still deep in its development cycle, and specifications can change. However, this early report provides an interesting data point, suggesting Apple may be prioritizing advancements in features and battery longevity over maintaining a lighter, slimmer profile for its 2026 flagship.

Is a heavier phone a deal-breaker for you, or do you welcome the extra weight if it means better battery life and more powerful features? Stay updated with the latest news on this by downloading the Appleosophy App from the App Store or by visiting our website.
