Apple adds original iPhone SE to its list of obsolete products, along with a few other products.

It’s that time again. Apple continues to add a few older products to its list of obsolete products, according to Aaron Perris on X. The company has added the following products to the list:

  • iPhone SE (first generation)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (second generation)
  • Apple Watch Series 4 Hermès models
  • Apple Watch Series 4 Nike models
  • Beats Pill 2.0

Apple introduced the original iPhone SE as the company’s more affordable option that featured most of the latest essential features you’d find in the iPhone 6s models, such as the A9 chip. The original iPhone SE’s design was based on that of the iPhone 5s, so it was a great option for those who prefer smaller phones.

The iPad Pro 12.9-inch (second generation) was introduced alongside the iPad Pro 10.5-inch at WWDC 2017, and both of those tablets featured the A10X Fusion chip and introduced ProMotion technology for the first time on any Apple product. When Apple introduced the redesigned iPad Pro models in October 2018, only the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (second generation) was discontinued by Apple, and the 10.5-inch iPad Pro remained on sale at the same $649 starting price until March 2019, when Apple revived the iPad Air with a third-generation model that featured the A12 Bionic chip.

Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 4, including the Nike and Hermès models, in September 2018, and this Series brought a major redesign for the first time on an Apple Watch. It was replaced with the Series 5 the following year.

By definition, Apple products are considered obsolete when at least 7 years have elapsed since Apple stopped distributing them for sale. This means that obsolete products are no longer eligible for hardware servicing or repairs. So if you have any of these products above, it may be in your best interest to upgrade now, especially with all the Black Friday deals going on.
