Earlier this week, Apple rolled out the first beta of iOS 26.3 to developers, just a few days after the public release of iOS 26.2. iOS 26.3 is expected to roll out to the public by the end of January, bringing in a few new interesting features.

In a rather surprising move, Apple has added a new ‘Transfer to Android’ option under Settings>General>Transfer or Reset iPhone, which will allow users to seamlessly switch to Android wirelessly. With this feature, users can select data to be transferred to the Android device, including contacts, messages, photos, and even their phone number, which has become quite essential considering the fact that phones are now becoming e-SIM only. However, some data, such as password-protected notes, health information, and Bluetooth device information, will not be transferred.

For this to work, both the iPhone and the Android device should have WiFi and Bluetooth enabled and be on the latest available software versions.

This move aligns with the intentions of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the European Commission, adding that this is an “example of how the Digital Markets Act (DMA) brings benefits to users and developers” in a statement to 9to5Mac. Even though this feature could have technically been limited to countries in the EU, Apple still decided to roll it out worldwide.

Similarly, Google will also allow users to seamlessly switch to an iPhone as part of their new collaboration.
