While recent rumors suggested that the second-generation iPhone Air might be pushed back to 2027, a fresh report from a notable source in the supply chain suggests we might see it much sooner. According to the Chinese leaker Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo, feedback from production lines indicates that Apple is currently on track to launch the iPhone Air 2 this fall.

Fixed Focus Digital notes that the upcoming model isn’t looking like a ground-up redesign. Instead, the iPhone Air 2 is being described as a routine upgrade with very minor changes. This directly contradicts earlier speculation that Apple might significantly cut specifications or radically change the design to address the feedback from the first-generation model.

For those who missed it, the iPhone Air (launched last year) turned heads with its slim 5.6mm profile. However, it also faced criticism for its single-lens camera and smaller battery compared to the more full-fledged Pro models. If Fixed Focus Digital’s report is accurate, it seems Apple is sticking to its guns, refining the existing slim design rather than overhauling it.

While other industry analysts, including Mark Gurman, have suggested that Apple might shift the Air to a less frequent update schedule, this report tells a different story. If trial production is moving forward as suggested, we can expect the iPhone Air 2 to share the stage with the iPhone 18 Pro this September.
