To celebrate the Chinese New Year (or Lunar New Year), which will happen from February 17 to March 3, this week, Apple shared a short film that combined live-action footage with stop-motion techniques to deliver a full-on adventure. Since this video featured Chinese dialogue, the video also provided on-video captions in English for you to follow along. The description of the video states the following on YouTube:
“A girl, a talking dog, and a meticulously thought out scheme make up this heartwarming tale about finding family. Apple joins forces with director Bai Xue for an imaginative blend of cinematography and stop-motion to usher in Chinese New Year.”
As you would expect, this video was entirely shot on the latest flagship iPhone: the iPhone 17 Pro. The iPhone 17 Pro features an even more advanced Pro camera system with 48MP sensors across the wide, the ultra wide, and the Telephoto camera. The telephoto camera not only allows the user to take 4X optical zoom in shots at 24MP or 48MP resolution, but it also enables 8X optical zoom in shots at 12MP resolution. The new optical zoom capabilities allow users to shoot 4K video while zooming in further on far-away subjects with little to no quality loss.
