Apple announces iPhone 17e with MagSafe support, A19 Chip, and more

Apple has finally announced the iPhone 17e, successor to the iPhone 16e, bringing some of the most-awaited features to the budget-end iPhone. This launch is a part of Apple’s “big week” of announcements, expected to bring at least five new products to the market.

The iPhone 17e comes out a year after the launch of the iPhone 16e for the same price tag of $599, but with upgraded features. To start off, this iPhone finally has support for MagSafe, unlike its predecessor. This upgrade also boosts the charging speed from the standard 7.5W to 15W with Qi2, with support for a wide variety of MagSafe accessories.

In terms of the Camera, Apple has included the 48MP Single Fusion Camera, similar to the previous 16e.

The iPhone 17e comes with the latest A19 Chip featuring a 6 core CPU, 4 core GPU, and a 16-core Neural engine. The phone boasts 1.6x performance boost when compared to the iPhone 12. Apart from the A19 chip, the iPhone 17e comes with the C1X modem found in the iPhone Air and the Cellular iPad Pro with the M5 chip.

The Display still has the notch from the iPhone 13, although it is now protected with Ceramic Shield 2.

According to said Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, “iPhone 17e combines powerful performance and features our users love at an exceptional value, making it a compelling option for customers looking to upgrade to the iPhone 17 family,” “We know our customers want a product that will last, and iPhone 17e delivers just that. With A19 for incredible performance, double the entry storage, a smarter camera system, and enhanced durability, iPhone 17e is designed to stay fast, secure, and valuable for years to come.”

The iPhone 17e  will be available in three finishes: Black, White and Soft Pink. It starts at $599 for 256GB (finally), and $799 for the 512GB variant. The device will be available to Pre-order on March 4th at 6:15 a.m. PT and will be available starting March 11th.
