Since 2022, Apple has had its own self-service repair program that allows customers to purchase specific components required to repair their devices. Today, as reported by 9to5Mac, Apple has made its official parts and equipment available in its self-service repair store for its newest devices that were unveiled last month.

To recap, those devices include:

  • iPhone 17e
  • iPad Air (M4)
  • MacBook Neo
  • MacBook Air (M5)
  • MacBook Pro (M5 Pro and M5 Max)
  • Studio Display (2026)
  • Studio Display XDR

Note that the self-service repair store is for customers in the U.S., Canada, and many European countries.

Apple also offers repair manuals for its devices that will guide you in making the necessary repairs once you have purchased the required parts and equipment.

It should be worth noting that after so many years, the MacBook Neo finally scores higher in repairability, according to iFixit as many of the components in the MacBook Neo use screws for assembly instead of glue for much easier disassembly, even the keyboard can be replaced individually where as on either the MacBook Air or the MacBook Pro, you’d have to replace the entire top case if you need to replace the keyboard. Hence, repairs on the MacBook Neo are cheaper overall. For example, the MacBook Neo’s individual keyboard component starts at just $140 on Apple’s self-service repair store in the U.S., but the top case with the keyboard for the MacBook Air or the MacBook Pro could set you back between $400 to $600.

That’s such a great asset for the MacBook Neo, especially when its target demographic is not only first-time Mac buyers, but also students and educational institutions.
