Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone could come in two sizes

Concept: 9to5Mac

We’re just about a year away from the twentieth anniversary of Apple’s launch of the original iPhone, and rumors suggest Apple is working on an all-new iPhone to commemorate the milestone. According to a recent Bloomberg report, the company is “ramping up” work on the upcoming iPhone, which is set to launch in the second half of next year.

Similar to how Apple has been offering the iPhone Pro model in two sizes, the upcoming 20th-anniversary iPhone will also come in two sizes. Since the next iPhone 18 Pro models will come in the same screen sizes as the current iPhone 17 Pro models, it’s possible that the 20th anniversary iPhone could also come in those same sizes. Furthermore, other rumors suggested that the displays on the 20th-anniversary iPhone would be truly edge-to-edge, with all sides curving to create a virtually borderless design. This breakthrough in display technology would be quite similar to the iPhone X’s display, which extended to the edges with rounded corners and thinner bezels.

Additionally, this 20th anniversary iPhone will launch alongside the second-generation foldable “iPhone Ultra“, and they’ll likely feature a 2-nanometer A21 Pro chip. The iPhone 18 Pro models that are set to launch this September will feature the A20 Pro chips, which will be the first chips from Apple that will be built on the 2-nanometer process, providing substantial improvements in power efficiency. So the A21 Pro chip will certainly make improvements on the A20 Pro chip in terms of performance and efficiency. For the regular iPhone 18, we expect Apple to launch that model in spring 2027 with the base A20 chip. Likewise, the regular iPhone 19 will likely launch in spring 2028 with the base A21 chip.

It won’t be long until Apple is set to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and its most exciting new product in years: the iPhone Ultra. The next few years are going to be so exciting for iPhone users.
