Review: Energizer 20W MagSafe Battery Pack

A couple of months ago, I decided it was time for me to get a charger that would enable me to not be thethered to some wall outlet, followed by a USB-C cable directly into my iPhone 15 Plus.

With that logic, I went to my local Best Buy store and purchased this 20W Energizer Battery Pack with support for MagSafe. Previously this year, I purchased Apple’s official version that is discontinued a little while back, but found that it was more so a battery stabilizer and not so much a charger. This is 2026 and not only is getting the most out of your battery important, but so is fast-charging, which is exactly what this charger provides.

For starters, I do like its design. It’s slim, minimalisitc, and fits well with my OtterBox Lumen Passport case on said iPhone of mine. The OtterBox case does have support for MagSafe charging as well, so there are no issues there.

To be honest, it kind of reminds me of a Ridge Wallet but with charging capabilities.

Another nice aspect of the design is the fact that it has a button on the bottom where when you press it, it tells you how much charge is left on the battery with bright lights (to the left of the USB-C port in the photo below). It’s very reminiscent of the button that used to be on the old MacBook Pros that would indicate its level of charge without having to open the MacBook.

But what is the most impressive feature of this battery pack?

Obviously it is the fast-charging.

Whether I am at work or out running errands around my city, it’s nice to be able wirelessly charge my iPhone. I’ve had moments where my iPhone will be down to 62% and within about 15 minutes or so, it is back up to 75% or more.

That might not seem like much on paper but when you’re in a squeeze and need to get some more charge into your iPhone, getting battery life like that is absolutely critical.

Additionally, this charger does sync with iOS 26 so that you can see when you put it on your iPhone, where it is for charge and also how much charge is left on the Energizer battery pack too. I previously thought this was only a feature for Apple’s version but I guess that has been expanded to third-party battery packs too.

In the photo above, the battery pack is the green circle on the bottom, as I had just recently fully-charged it at the time.

Best of all, the price for this charger is under $20. Currently Best Buy is selling this charger for $16.99 (regularly $29.99).

The only downsides I have found with this case is that it can get a bit warm when being used on your iPhone. There are some reviews on Best Buy’s website where the reviewer did say that either the battery bulged open or that it burned the device they were charging.

I would not say this is a case like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, but you should be aware of the potential risks when using a battery pack like this. Still, this Energizer battery pack on Best Buy’s website gets 4.3/5 stars from users. Obviously with almost any product or accessory out there, there will always be defective or poorly assembled ones that seep through the cracks.

Furthermore, depending on the case you are using on your iPhone, this battery pack can slip or move around, so just be aware of that.

With all of that said, this product gets 4/4 stars from me. While it does have some downsides, the pros outweigh the cons, and it’s a product I don’t have to worry too much about when using it. That’s way it and pretty much every other product or accessory on the market should be.

Rating: 4/4 stars
