Apple has started rolling out watchOS 27.0.1 for new Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 users. This update comes about a week and a half after the release of watchOS 27, which brought several new features to the Apple Watch, including a new Dynamic App Grid, a new Siri, a new single-tap gesture, and more.
According to Apple’s Release Notes for watchOS 27.0.1, “This update provides bug fixes for your Apple Watch including fixing an issue where Apple Watch may restart unexpectedly.” Apple has not published any CVE entries on its Security Update webpage, which suggests that this update is simply for fixing this bug.
This update is not available to other watchOS 27 supported models since the fixed issue only pertains to the newest Apple Watch models. The latest update available for the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, Ultra 2, Ultra 3, and SE 3 is still watchOS 27.0.
Users can update their Apple Watch by going into the Watch App on their iPhone and navigating to My Watch>General>Software Update. The update requires your Apple Watch to be near your paired iPhone, connected to power, and have at least 50% Battery.
Following the release of watchOS 27.0.1, Apple might also release iOS 27.0.1 for the iPhone 18 Pro soon, since users are reporting Face ID issues and frozen UI issues. Apple seems to be working on this update already, as seen in MacRumors logs.
