Opinion: How Apple could still have WWDC 2020 despite the coronavirus pandemic

Despite the coronavirus outbreak in the United States and across the world, there is still hope that Apple could still have the WWDC keynote this year.

There has been a lot of news lately with the coronavirus. Even within the last 24 hours, colleges across the country are shifting from face-to-face classes with online classes, the NBA canceled the rest of its 2020 season and Tom Hanks and his wife announced that they have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

Even events such as the rumored March 2020 Apple Event, SXSW 2020 and E3 2020 have also been canceled this week alone, so how would Apple be able to still have the WWDC keynote this year?

The answer is a fairly simple one, but on the other hand, it’s a lot like what employers and colleges are doing right now.

The idea is to just air the keynote live on its website. I know that it would not be the same WWDC that we have come to know and love, but at the same time, Apple would still be giving us what we want, in terms of new software and products that are generally unveiled during that keynote.

Obviously, events that normally go on there with developers and attendees there would have to be put to a halt since they do not want to spread the coronavirus. Still, they can show us what we all want, which is the company’s newest software and hardware.

It is unclear how long this pandemic is going to go on and if conditions are going to improve at some point in the near future. The solution of just airing the keynote and having that be WWDC this year may be the only solution there is right now.
