Apple has announced that they are going to push the boundaries regarding the Apple Watch ECG feature support for more countries, via press release. Those countries include: New Zealand, Chile and Turkey.
Released once with Apple Watch Series 4, the ECG feature will record your heartbeat and rhythm using the electrical heart sensor found in the new models and give you brief results that can be sent straight to a cardiologist.
They did not give a specific date as for the public release other than “next week”, along with the release of the new WatchOS 6.2 and iOS 13.4, although some users from Turkey reported that they already have received the ECG support, only one day after the press conference, which suggests that Apple is slowly implementing this feature.
The ECG feature has already proven to save many lives, alongside the fall detection (which is already available worldwide with an Apple Watch 4 or newer) and it is thought that by the end of the next year, Apple will hopefully have the ECG feature available in every country.
Apple has shared many touching stories of people’s lives being saved by the Fall Detection feature, and the Irregular Rhythm notifications, and hopes to find much more stories of lives being save by the ECG feature.
This feature is already available in 32 countries and more will come soon.
Apple has also given us some advices on how to get the best results when using the feature, some of them include:
Rest your arms on a table or in your lap while you take a recording. Try to relax and not move too much.
Make sure that your Apple Watch isn’t loose on your wrist. The band should be snug, and the back of your Apple Watch needs to be touching your wrist.
Make sure that your wrist and your Apple Watch are clean and dry.
Make sure that your Apple Watch is on the wrist that you selected in the Apple Watch app. To check, open the Apple Watch app, tap the My Watch tab, then go to General > Watch Orientation.
Move away from any electronics that are plugged into an outlet to avoid electrical interference
