This is a review that has been a long time coming. I received this USB-C hub for Christmas last year from a friend of mine. Sadly, he did not buy it with Apple Pay or Samsung Pay (he has a Samsung S8+).

The ports this device has on it is one USB-C port, SD card slot, microSD card slot, and two USB-A 3.0 ports.

For starters, the first aspect that I like about this product is that the color of it, Space Gray, is the same color and shade of my 2017 MacBook Pro. It’s almost identical to it, which shows excellent attention to detail.

Another feature that I like about this product is the little blue light on the top of it. To some, they might consider it to be a bad thing because they want it to be plain and just work. For me, I have no issues with the light because it’s simple and doesn’t make me worry about it not working.

Portability is another nice feature of the device. I have a 13-inch CaseCrown Messenger and there is a pocket right on the opening flap of the bag and it is the perfect spot to put this USB-C hub.

As for the speed of it, I have had no issues transferring files on it. I have only been using it to transfer Microsoft Word documents and audio files to two different flash drives. Both times, the transferring speeds have been adequate and I don’t find myself clanking my fingers to my desk, being impatient and waiting for the files to get done transferring.

You are able to charge your MacBook through the USB-C port on the hub, which has come in handy a few times for me.

This Hyper-Drive USB-C hub can be used on the current MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and discontinued 12-inch MacBook. Sadly, this one specifically is no longer available.

The good news is that there is a new version of it that costs the same amount of money as the one that I got from my friend for Christmas (yes, I knew the regular price of it before he purchased it).

Additionally, the new version adds a Thunderbolt 3 port and an HDMI port too. The HDMI port will enable you to hook your MacBook to your TV or computer monitor. It can be found through Best Buy right now for $89.99.

Overall, this product gets 4/4 stars from me. It works the way a USB-C hub should and gets the job done. You can’t ask for more than that from a product like this.
