Apple has released iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1 to the public to all devices that support iOS & iPadOS 13. Apple has released this update exactly 2 weeks after they released the feature-packed update i.e, iOS 13.4. Apple had also released iOS 13.4.5 and iPadOS 13.4.5 beta 1 last week.
The build number for this update is 17E262 and it is a minor update of around 100MB, which includes bug fixes & improvements.
According to Apple, iOS 13.4.1 includes,
“iOS 13.4.1 includes bug fixes for your ”ŒiPhone”Œ.
- Fixes an issue where devices running iOS 13.4 could not participate in FaceTime calls with devices running iOS 9.3.6 and earlier or OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and earlier
- Addresses a bug with the Settings app where choosing Bluetooth from the quick actions menu on the Home screen would fail”
iPadOS 13.4.1 has the same bug fixes as iOS 13.4.1, but it also includes another bug fix,
“Addresses an issue on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) and iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) where the flashlight may not turn on after tapping the Flashlight button in Control Center or on the Lock screen”
Apple has fixed the issue that would prevent iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 users from communicating to devices running iOS 9.3.6 or earlier and OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 or earlier via FaceTime. This update was very important considering the present situation worldwide due to the Coronavirus. Many users still use an older iPhone or iPad right now and this update fixed a vital bug where an iOS or iPadOS 13.4 users could not communicate with older devices.
While iOS 13.4.1 and iPadOS 13.4.1 have been released, iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 (17E255) is still being signed by Apple, and you can still downgrade your iPhone or iPad to this version. Apple may soon stop signing this version of iOS.
