Tractor Supply Co (TSC) adds Apple Pay support due to coronavirus

Tractor Supply Co. (TSC), one of the biggest rural life and farming retail stores in the United States, has added Apple Pay support to its retail stores due to the coronavirus.

TSC’s CEO and president Hal Lawton said in a statement:

“At Tractor Supply, our top priority is the health and safety of our team members and customers. We have executed a number of actions over the past three weeks, and today we are announcing additional changes that allow us to better serve our customers’ needs during this time of crisis.”

In addition to adding Apple Pay support to its stores, along with other mobile payment methods such as Google and Samsung Pay, its stores are offering curbside pickup for purchases from customers that have been made online.

With TSC accepting Apple Pay, it also means that those who have Apple Card and make purchases at TSC stores, will get two percent in Daily Cash when making the purchase with their iPhone or Apple Watch.

This is not the first time we have seen companies and stores adopt Apple Pay due to the coronavirus. Just last week, Publix started accepting Apple Pay in its stores and it was revealed that one of the primary reasons the company did it was due to the safety and security that Apple Pay brings during these unprecedented coronavirus times.

Publix CEO Todd Jones said that another reason Apple Pay started getting accepted there was so that customers would not have to touch often-used surfaces such as the number pad on the card reader when typing in their pin if the customer is using their debit card.

“By expediting this payment option, we will help customers reduce contact with commonly used surfaces like PIN pads.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has recommended that people use Apple Pay and other contactless payment methods for purchase so that consumers are not using cash, as that is filled with germs and bacteria, and credit/debit cards in their physical form because of the germs that could have been on the card from previous uses.

Let us know in the comments if you have seen your local TSC Tractor Supply Co. store accept Apple Pay.

UPDATE (04/25/2021): Tractor Supply Co (TSC) now accepts Apple Pay in its app as well.
