Amazon has updated its Alexa App on both the Platforms with the most requested feature: “Hands-Free Mode”. Finally, users can access Alexa without pressing the blue button in the app. Now the users can use Alexa just like they do it with their Echo Devices.
While this might be a great news, there are still a few limitations. To start with, the users need to have their devices unlocked and the app on the screen for it to work. The app running in the background will not work too. This makes the feature to be not completely hands-free yet. Other than that users can ask Siri/Google Assitant to open the Alexa app and then asking it to do the task. But it kills the whole concept of using Alexa as the main Personal Assistant.
As reported by TechCrunch, the feature is being rolled out to both Android and iOS. After updating the app, the users will be asked to setup the feature with their voice, and there is always an option to turn it off. The update will be available to the users in the coming days. While this might not be the exact feature that people expected, it’s still a move in the right direction. We hope to see it go completely hands-free with the future updates.
