I don’t know about you, but the weather is getting much colder, and specifically where I live, there is snow in the forecast.

The good news is that cold weather does give you an excuse to stay in and watch TV.

TV:

  • “Two and a Half Men”: In response to the recent death of Conchata Ferrell, who played Berta on the show, we are recommending this 12-season TV series. It is available to stream on Peacock.

  • “Last Man Standing”: It was announced this week that the show’s upcoming ninth season, which is expected to debut in January 2021, will be its last. In the meantime, you can catch up on the other previous seasons on Hulu.

  • “Start-Up”: This new Netflix Korean drama TV series follows the life of a woman who is looking to become the next Steve Jobs. The series will premiere on Netflix on Saturday, October 17. New episodes will premiere on the streaming service each week.

Movies:

  • “Unfriended”: If you have been looking for a good horror movie to watch, you are in for a treat. The movie is about a group of friends in a group video chat call, which is ironic given the times we are in as a country right now, and each one gets picked off. It is available to stream on Netflix.

  • “Spider-Man: Far From Home”: The Halloween season can bring on a sense of wanting to watch superhero movies, and one of the best ones of 2019 was the new “Spider-Man” movie. It can be streamed on Starz.

  • “Drillbit Taylor”: While a bit inappropriate, this Owen Wilson film is sure to get you laughing into the night. It is available to stream on Starz.

Halloween Movie:

  • “The Nightmare Before Christmas”: Yes, this is a Halloween film according to its director, Henry Selick. Disney+ is the place to go to stream it.

Sports:

  • #3 Georgia vs. #2 Alabama (College Football): This game could arguably be the biggest game of the year for both squads, and it will be more interesting with Alabama head coach Nick Saban not on the sideline due to his recent positive COVID-19 test. The game will be played at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, October 17 on CBS and CBS All Access.

  • Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL): A battle between two future hall of fame quarterbacks; Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Need we say more? It will be played at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, October 18, on FOX.

  • Hollywood Casino 400 (NASCAR Cup Series): The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs will continue, but for this week, do so with a national audience. It will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 18, on NBC.
