Seems like 2020 can’t get any weirder. From Apple Express locations and an increase of online sales, this has been one of the craziest iPhone launches of all time. Now, the South Korean carrier SK Telecom will sell iPhone 12 and other models in unstaffed locations in the country. The first one will be a 24-hour location in Seoul, set to open on Friday November 30th.

According to reports, this store will be much more than just a simple retail location. Visitors will be able to test and compare models form different manufacturers, such as Apple and Samsung. And a special partnership with Microsoft will allow users to test out Cloud Gaming options on their devices.

In the briefing, the carrier mentioned it will also become a “cultural space” for future generations. In it, people of all ages will be able to enjoy and experiment with AR experiences designed for entertainment and education.

Of course, nothing will ever replace the traditional retail experience, but the technological advancements that are implemented into this location are stunning. Clients will have to register previously, and facial recognition technology and personalized AI recommendations will give them the best experience possible.

In the age of COVID-19, these sort of concepts wouldn’t work, but with advanced sensors and other smart technology, customers won’t have to be afraid of the virus while they are enjoying the store.

While South Korea is one of the most technologically advanced countries, this is still a surprise in their retail landscape. Only time will tell if this can be the future of tech stores, and it could also bring changes to the way we buy products in other countries.
