If you think Apple’s recent price hikes for Macs and iPads are already a tough pill to swallow, some AppleCare+ subscription plans have also taken a hit.
As reported by Bloomberg, AppleCare+ subscriptions are now being pricier, with monthly plans being $0.50 more expensive and annual plans seeing a $5 price increase in the U.S. Keep in mind that these pricing adjustments only affect new customers, which means current customers who have subscribed to AppleCare+ before today will not be affected.
Most interestingly, the pricing for AppleCare One subscription plan has remained unchanged, which covers up to three Apple products for just $19.99 per month with an additional $5.99 fee for every additional Apple device. Still, I wouldn’t get my hopes up to see whether the overall pricing for the AppleCare One subscription will continue to stay the same for the foreseeable future.
On the other hand, it seems that iPhones were not part of Apple’s recent pricing adjustments, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if the upcoming iPhones in September follow suit, so AppleCare+ for iPhone plans may soon get more expensive again since early 2025.
Apple had no choice but to increase the prices across a majority of its products in light of the ongoing memory chip shortages, and it seems this week’s price adjustments for AppleCare+ plans is just another unavoidable situation to recoup those higher component costs. So if you’re looking to add AppleCare+ to your new Mac or iPad, this is something you may consider whether it’s worth investing.
