The iPhone 12 Pro Max received DisplayMate’s Best Smartphone Display Award, a blow to those that place a strong emphasis on both high refresh rate and high-resolution displays. The 12 Pro Max is high-res at 458PPI, but there are many phones that can push QHD+ resolutions, a definite step forward – but a noticeable one? The iPhone 13 is rumoured to bring 120Hz for the first time to an iPhone next year, possibly bringing even greater improvements to the iPhone’s best-in-class display. Dolby Vision recording has also come to the iPhone this year, so the 12 Pro Max should look brilliant for HDR content, whether external or natively shot video.
