A new report by Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman suggests that Apple is working on a new High-end MacBook Air that could potentially launch in the second half of 2021 or 2022.

According to Gurman, Apple is in the works on a new 13-inch MacBook Air that will have four USB ports instead of two on the current 2020 model. The current model with the M1 chip will still be available as an entry-level laptop.

“It will include Apple’s MagSafe charging technology and a next-generation version of the company’s in-house Mac processors. Apple has discussed making the laptop smaller by shrinking the border around the screen, which will remain 13-inches. The current model weighs 2.8 pounds and is just over half an inch at its thickest point.

The company considered building a larger version of the ”ŒMacBook Air”Œ with a 15-inch screen, but Apple isn’t moving forward with this for the next generation, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private matters. An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.”

Apple is reportedly working on reviving the MagSafe charger on MacBooks, the charger was first removed back in 2016 with the new and current MacBook design, with the last Mac machine with MagSafe being the discontinued 2017 MacBook Air.

Last week, famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the 2021 MacBook Pro will feature a new design, the return of MagSafe, and no Touch Bar. This new report extends the MagSafe return to the Air models, but Kuo did also say that Cupertino has no plans to launch a new Air model in 2021, but in 2022. Kuo claims that Apple’s 2022 MacBook Air will feature a mini-LED display.

Apple re-introduced MagSafe on the iPhone 12 lineup as magnetic chargers and accessories that can be used on the new iPhones to charge and use.
