As Apple wrapped up its second quarterly earnings call for this year, Apple also reported that iPad and Mac shipments will likely see supply shortages going into the third quarter. The chip shortage earlier this year most likely caused this unforeseeable debacle. The second quarter’s shipments will not be affected.

This is not the first time that Macs and iPads have seen such shortages. Last year, sometime after the COVID-19 pandemic, Mac and iPad shipments have pushed to a couple of weeks, which is longer than the usual shipping time of 4-5 business days. With people working at home nowadays, many have relied on Macs and iPads to communicate with people such as Zoom meetings.

Apple is also preparing to launch its recently announced iMac and iPad Pro, both equipped with M1. Orders begin on April 30th, and availability will start May 21st. We also expect to see a redesigned MacBook Pro equipped with a Mini-LED display in the second half of this year. But the aforementioned shortages will likely delay the launch towards the end of this year.
