Ahead of macOS Monterey’s possible public release, one of its biggest features is now labeled as “in beta” on macOS Monterey beta 10.
Universal Control is a feature that gives users the ability to move a mouse cursor between iPads and Macs, adding typing on one device and seeing text on the other, and giving drag and drop functionality between the devices as well.
Spotted by 9to5Mac, on the latest beta of macOS Monterey, Universal Control has a beta label next to it, although users cannot access the feature yet. So this might give us hope that the feature could make its way to the final version.
Unfortunately, Universal Control has not been available on either macOS Monterey or iPadOS 15. However, seeing the feature being labeled as a beta might not be a game-changer, but it surely means that the feature’s release could be closer than we thought.
Apple has sent out invitations to its next event on October 18th dubbed “Unleashed”, where the company will announce the long-rumored refreshed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with the M1X chip inside.
It is expected that alongside the Mac reveals, Apple would announce the release date of macOS Monterey, which is the next big update for macOS which alongside Universal Control, includes some great updates coming for the Macs like:
- AirPlay
- Safari 15.0
- Focus
- Spatial Audio with AirPods Pro
- Low Power Mode
