With yesterday’s launch of the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple has published details on its support article on which chargers will support fast-charging on Apple Watch Series 7.
The Apple Watch Series 7 features a new charging architecture that enables up to 33% faster charging than the Series 6, charging from 0 to 80% in 45 minutes. 8 minutes of charging provides 8 hours of sleep tracking. Know that the USB-C magnetic charging cable that comes in the box is required for faster charging. You can identify it with the aluminum around the puck as well as the USB-C connector on the other end. Apple has noted in a new support document that fast charging will work not only with an official Apple power adapter (18W+), but also with a third-party USB-PD power adapter of at least 5W.
On the contrary, Apple has confirmed that the MagSafe Duo Charger that Apple announce alongside the iPhone 12 last year will not support the new fast-charging capabilities that the Series 7 offers. It will still instead the standard charging speeds. With this expensive accessory in the market for almost a year, Apple has yet to make plans to update this accessory to take advantage of the new capability.
On the other note, according to 9to5Mac, it turns out that the new Nike Bounce watch face is not exclusive to the Series 7 Nike models. In fact, it is compatible with older Nike models as early as the Series 4.
FYI: The new “Nike Bounce” watch face is not exclusive to Series 7 models. You can have it on any Apple Watch Nike model (Series 4 and later). pic.twitter.com/fkRuOg9K52
