Just a couple of months before Apple introduced its first Macs with Apple Silicon, the big company debuted its last Intel-based iMac – the 27-inch iMac. This machine brings many nice improvements even before the major transition, including the True Tone display and the nano-textured option. However, the first time that Apple introduced the latter feature was in 2019 with the Pro Display XDR.
The $500 upgrade for the iMac’s screen allows reduced glare/reflectivity by using nanometer-level etching into the glass. As of now, because of the difficulties in the manufacturing process, this machine with this option is not available until late March. Good news is that you don’t need to worry about buying that Polishing Cloth to keep that display in good shape.
With all kidding aside, we might see an upcoming larger iMac with Apple Silicon sooner rather than later. With rumors pointing to an Apple event in the Spring, Apple could unveil that machine along with other products such as the higher-end Mac mini.
