Last August, Apple acquired Primephonic, a classical music streaming service. As the service shuts down, the Cupertino-based giant has been planning to integrate “Primephonic playlists and exclusive audio content” into Apple Music.
Recently, a beta for Apple Music for Android rolled out, which brings enhanced widgets that have dynamic backgrounds and optimized padding. Most interesting is that the beta reveals the name for Apple’s standalone classical genre app based on Primephonic – Apple Classical.
One ability that’s coming to Apple Classical is to open a compatible track directly in the optimized service. My take on this is that I don’t see a point in Apple offering a standalone classical app. Currently, you can easily find classical music as the company offers dozens of playlists of that genre. Maybe Apple could expand that app for meditation/sleep features?
