Today is the day, Apple will hold its first virtual event of this year. In it, the company will debut a bunch of new products. With the event starting in a few hours, Asia-based Apple leaks are spreading across the web and are considered the final “last-minute” details.
Apple is expected to debut at least five new products:
- iPhone SE 3
- 2022 iPad Air 5
- An entry-level MacBook Pro
- A new Mac mini
- A new 7K External Display
- A possible iMac Pro revival
- A new Mac Studio hybrid product
A user on the Korean platform Naver called “yeux1122” has published new details regarding the iPad Air 5 and iPhone SE 3. The account seems to be a collector of speculations from the supply industries and was launched last year when it cited a rumor of Apple releasing an iPad mini Pro.
iPhone SE 3
Regarding the iPhone SE 3, the user notes that the upcoming device will feature three new features to stand out against its predecessor. Those are MagSafe, Ceramic Shield, and “significantly better” battery life unlike the iPhone SE 2. The user adds more and states that performance will be increased by adding one more gigabyte of RAM to the device, increasing it from 3GB to 4GB of RAM.
The device was previously reported to not include MagSafe, so we are not sure if the charging capability will arrive today. The feature allows users to magnetically charge the iPhone with its special charger that can be separately purchased. In addition to snapping MagSafe accessories like wallets.
The 2022 iPhone SE will feature the A15 Bionic chip, the same iPhone 8 design, and most notably 5G. The three features mentioned above will significantly improve the device and could convince more consumers to upgrade.
iPad Air 5
Apple will upgrade the iPad Air lineup with a new iPad Air 5 to make sure it is up-to-date with the latest and greatest technologies on newer iPads such as the iPad mini that was launched in 2021.
According to “yeux1122”, the fifth-gen iPad Air will arrive with the M1 chip ”“ the same chip found on MacBook Pros, Macbook Airs, Mac mini, and iPad Pro. At the same time, the RAM will be doubled from 4GB to 8GB.
This rumor matches yesterday’s report by 9to5Mac which noted the same details. The iPad Air 5 will match the iPad Pro in performance with the M1 chip.
Additionally, the Korean user states that the upcoming tablet’s storage will start at 128GB, which doubles from a previous 64GB of storage, as well as a starting price of $599, meaning no change there ”“ the same details were reported by 9to5Mac today. Earlier, another report by Luke Miani cited that the new iPad will be available in purple color, continuing Apple’s tradition to introduce new colors for its products.
The iPad Air 5 will feature 5G, Center Stage, A15 Bionic chip, 12MP ultra-wide front camera, and Quad-LED True Tone.
Mac Studio & Studio Display
Finally, the last products that we learned that they are coming at today’s event are the “Mac Studio” machine and the “Studio Display” external display. Apple is planning to launch an all-new Mac desktop that is a midrange machine between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro.
Alongside it, the company will debut a 27-inch 7K external monitor named Studio Display that will be an affordable alternative to the much more expensive Pro Display XDR. The price of the monitor will be ~$1,000 against the Pro Display XDR’s $6,000.
According to Mark Gurman, both products are “ready to go” for an announcement at today’s event. He also suggests that the monitor will have an A-series chip because it will “run a variant of iOS”.
We first heard about the Mac Studio and Studio Display by 9to5Mac, and while they did not identify the origin of the source, it makes sense that the Naver user mentions the products as it means that the origins could be from Asia.
