Rumors and speculation of information regarding the next generation of the iPhone ”“ iPhone 14 ”“ are getting more detailed. Now, one of the most reliable Apple analysts is reporting a very interesting detail when it comes to performance.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a very reliable Apple analyst is stating in a tweet he posted, that Apple will upgrade the iPhone 14 Pro’s performance with the “A16 chip”.

However, he is stating that only the pro models are receiving this chip, while the standard models will retain the current A15 Bionic found on the iPhone 13 lineup as well as the iPhone SE.

Not only that, but Kuo also says that all four models will arrive with 6GB RAM but the pro models will feature the more advanced LPDDR 5 memory while the standard models will have LPDDR 4X memory ”“ deepening the differences in performance:

“Only two Pro models would upgrade to the A16 processor, while the 14 & 14 Max will remain the A15. All four new models will likely come with 6GB RAM, with the difference being LPDDR 5 (14 Pro & 14 Pro Max) vs. LPDDR 4X (14 & 14 Max).”

If this report turns out to be correct, Apple is giving consumers a very different lineup of iPhones for 2022 when compared to last year. The Cupertino-based giant has been making four devices with small differences in between such as in the design, display, and especially the camera system.

Speed and performance will significantly deepen the differences between the four variants of the next iPhone.

Last month, a report claimed that Apple might upgrade the RAM on the iPhone 14 Pro to 8GB RAM which matches the recently launched lineup of Samsung’s Galaxy S22, it would also be the biggest RAM upgrade. However, we are still unsure if that ever happens.

Finally, it was reported that the design of the next four devices in the lineup is finalized, with trial production starting, pushing the first phase of producing the phones.

Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 14 lineup this September, other than the refreshed design, the devices could feature a 48MP camera system, 8K video, and potentially a full eSIM variant.
