Streaming services have taken up a good portion of our everyday TV-viewing habits and using them on the Mac is by no means abnormal.
However, it can be annoying to have to go to the website of each streaming service each time you want to want to watch a program on a different streaming service.
The good news is there is an app in the Mac App Store called “Friendly Streaming” that includes all of the streaming built into one app. It’s similar to the Apple TV app, but instead of taking you to the Disney+, Netflix or Prime Video websites, the app does it within itself.
Currently, the app has access to the following services: Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Prime Video, HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount+, Showtime, YouTube, YouTube TV, Starz, PLEX, Twitch, Boomerang, Tubi, iMDB TV, Roku Channel, Hoopla, Kanopy, Pluto, fubo, DirecTV Stream, AcornTV, Discovery+ and Crackle.
Of course, you the user would have to sign in with your credentials in order for the services to work in the app, but once that is done, you will be able to stream all of your favorite streaming services, TV shows and movies all right from the Friendly Streaming app.
Friendly Streaming also has the ability for Picture-in-Picture and to change and customize the picture such as its brightness, saturation, contrast and transparency.
This app is a free app in the Mac App Store and has tips that users can pay to tip the developers of the app. Tips start at $1.99 and go as high as $9.99. Any one-time tip given will unlock the app’s Streaming Plus aspect for life. Streaming Plus includes “Advanced Ad-Blockers” which the user will have to activate in Preferences in the app.

See, the only problems here are that every single time I try the Hulu app, I get a choice of Hulu (or Hulu plus something else) apps to BUY. There’s no option to sign in to the one I already pay for. Max (formerly HBO Max) simply doesn’t work. It recognizes my sign-in and account – but then gives an error message. As does the Amazon app. But both work fine if I just open them in a browser.
