iOS 16 will bring significant improvements to notifications and new health-tracking features, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. He states that the next big software update is codenamed Sydney.

In his latest edition of the “Power On” newsletter, Gurman reports that the next version of iOS will bring major significant upgrades to notifications as well as health-tracking features presumably in the Health app. However, Gurman does not expect a major redesign:

“On the iOS side, I’m looking for some fairly significant enhancements across the board, including an update to notifications and new health-tracking features. I’m not expecting an end-to-end redesign of iOS’s interface, even though it hasn’t changed much since iOS 7 nearly a decade ago.”

Additionally, Gurman adds that there might be a new multitasking interface on iPadOS, while watchOS 9 (codenamed Kincaid) will receive major upgrades regarding activity and health-tracking:

“But there might be a new iPadOS multitasking interface. The Apple Watch, meanwhile, may get major upgrades to activity and health tracking.”

Currently, there are no additional details when it comes to macOS 13 (codenamed Rome) as well as tvOS 16 (codenamed Paris). Gurman says that we can expect many more details “over the next two months” until WWDC occurs.

Finally, Gurman retirated his prevoius statments of potential hardware products such as new Macs. He stated that Apple is planning to launch more Macs in either May or June, with the iMac Pro expected during WWDC 2022.

In January, Gurman reported that the Mac transition from Intel chips to custom-based Apple silicon chips could end by WWDC. However, we might have to wait a bit longer.

Last Tuseday, Apple officially announced as well as sent out invites for this summer’s Worldwide Developers Conference ”“ WWDC ”“ where the company will announce the next versions of its software lineup: iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16 on the opening day of Monday, June 6.
