Not only has Apple announced some new Watch bands that are specifically designed for the Apple Watch Ultra, but also, those bands are available to purchase separately. One interesting tidbit is that those bands are also compatible with 44mm and 45mm cases. Conversely, existing watch bands for the 44mm/45mm cases will also work with the Apple Watch Ultra.
With that said, depending on which model you have, if you own the larger case size, then those bands will work perfectly on your current watch. Therefore, you don’t need to shell out $799 just to get any of those bands. Instead, you can get each of those bands for $99.
It’s important to note that there’s no mention of compatibility with the 42mm case for older Apple Watch models (Series 3 or earlier), but if you do have such an old watch, then it’s no better time than now to get a new Apple Watch. The Apple Watch SE now starts at $249, and it offers many of the latest core features that any Apple Watch has to offer.
I’ve ordered two of the “Ultra” bands, and they should arrive next Friday (September 23), so keep an eye out for our first look at both of those bands. Coming soon is an Apple Watch Buyer’s guide, so definitely take a look at it when it comes out. That way, you’ll know which Apple Watch suits your needs.
