Here are two apps you can buy new and used books from and pay with Apple Pay

Reading is a habit that many Americans are getting back into. With things such as inflation and trying to save money overall, bookworms across the U.S. are always trying to save money.

What if I told you there are not one but two apps in the App Store where you can not only save money on new and used books, but also pay for them with Apple Pay?

Yes, this does exist, and here are those two apps:

  • ThriftBooks: This is an outlet I have been using for years to get reading books for cheap. The interface is good and the shipping is very adequately-priced. I just recently purchased a hardcover of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” for under $5 and just a little over $6 with taxes and shipping factored in. It’s much better than buying new from Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million, especially for readers on a budget.
  • PangoBooks: It’s not as well known as ThriftBooks, but can still serve as an excellent source for getting books for cheap. It also has an iPad app to shop from too, unlike ThriftBooks. What I do like about PangoBooks is you can see the quality of the book before you purchase it because you are technically buying from specific sellers on the app, as opposed to ThriftBooks which gets the books from sellers but then sells the book themselves. I have been able to find popular books like “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” for $2 or others like a hardcover of “The Fault in Our Stars” for just $3.

And of course, as previously stated, both apps do accept Apple Pay. If you’re someone like me where that is your preferred method of payment, this is a huge win.

Dedicated brick-and-mortar bookstores like Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Half-Price Books do accept Apple Pay in their stores but not currently on their websites or apps.

In fact, you can view our whole list of bookstores that accept Apple Pay here too.

Do any of the two apps we just mentioned make you want to go out, buy some books, and pay for them with Apple Pay? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.
