Apple has started rolling out iOS 16.5 to the public with several new features and changes such as a new Pride Celebration Wallpaper, a new Sports tab in Apple News, and more.
This update comes a month and eleven days after the release of iOS 16.4.1 which contained important bug fixes and security updates. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every iOS 16.x update whilst also fixing security issues.
According to Apple, iOS 16.5 includes the following features and changes:
- A new Pride Celebration wallpaper for the Lock Screen to honor the LGBTQ+ community and culture
- Sports tab in Apple News gives easy access to stories, scores, standings, and more, for the teams and leagues you follow
- My Sports score and schedule cards in Apple News take you directly to game pages where you can find additional details about specific games
- Fixes an issue where Spotlight may become unresponsive
- Addresses an issue where Podcasts in CarPlay may not load content
- Fixes an issue where Screen Time settings may reset or not sync across all devices

In addition to iOS 16.5, Apple has also released iOS 15.7.6 for older devices with bug fixes and security improvements. The oldest supported devices are the iPhone 6s, and the iPhone 6s Plus from 2015. Apple ended support for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (1st generation), and iPod touch (7th generation) on iOS 15. However, it is simply amazing to see them provide security updates till date for devices that are almost 8 years old, making Apple a clear winner in terms of Security & Software updates.
It is highly recommended to update your iPhone to the latest software for the best experience and the best security. What are your thoughts on the new Sports tab in the Apple News App in iOS 16.5?
